SINGLE SOURCE OF TRUTH
Know that you're always working on the right file.
On projects with constant revisions, versions multiply fast. With Frame.io Drive and Mounted Storage, everyone works from a single source of truth — and always on the latest version in real time.
Every version connected. Every version saved.
Frame.io Version Stacks show the complete history of changes, so nothing gets lost.
Security
Security trusted by Hollywood studios, leading agencies, and global brands.
Creative files become harder to secure when they’re constantly downloaded, copied, and shared across tools. Mounted Storage keeps your assets inside Frame.io so security remains intact.
Assets never leave Frame.io
Teams work from the same files instead of creating unsecured local copies.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Frame.io Drive and Mounted Storage?
Frame.io Drive is the desktop app for macOS and Windows that connects your Frame.io projects to your computer, allowing you to mount projects to your desktop, transfer files reliably without interruption, and upload or download media at accelerated speed.
Mounted Storage is a storage type in Frame.io that uses streaming to let you open and work on your projects instantly, without downloading or syncing.
How is this different from other cloud storage or file syncing tools?
Traditional cloud storage relies on downloading or syncing files to your device before you can start working, often creating duplicate copies and version confusion. Mounted Storage works differently. Your files stay in Frame.io and only the data you need is streamed as you work.
How much does Mounted Storage cost?
Every Frame.io account includes a set amount of Mounted Storage to get started. As your needs grow, you can increase your storage capacity to scale with your team.
What happens if my internet connection is slow?
Mounted Storage streams only the data needed at that moment, so files can open quickly even on standard connections.
What happens if I go offline?
Mounted Storage requires an active internet connection. If files are already cached, you can continue working, but access depends on maintaining a connection to Frame.io.
Can multiple people work on the same files?
Yes. Multiple users can access the same files in a shared project. Changes are tracked automatically and every save is preserved as a version so work is never lost.
Does it work with my creative tools?
Yes. Mounted Storage works with any application that reads from a file system, including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and third-party applications.
What file types are supported?
Frame.io supports over 500 file types, including video, images, audio, documents, and project files that your creative tools can open.
“I can open Premiere or After Effects — and I don't know what the magic is behind it — but the file is not even fully downloaded and it's already playing. Mounted Storage just really transforms the idea that you don't even have to think about downloading anymore.”
